The infamous Superman Movie: The Quest for Peace

Many people consider this film to be the worst superman film of Christopher Reeve. I have to disagree with that.

Is the movie bad? Yes, but somehow it is still enjoyable. In fact, I prefer the fourth movie over Superman III. The Quest for Peace isn’t as bad as I expected it to be. The film is fun, fast-paced, and watchable.

Don’t get me wrong. There is a lot of wrong things within this movie.

Also, did they ignored the third film? Where is Lana Lang?

Nuclear Man - The Quest for Piece

Nuclear Man!

Superman is getting rid of all nuclear weapons in the world. First of all, everybody cheered him on, but in reality, some would protest. That could have been an opportunity to have a political issue. Some random thoughts: have Lex Luthor stand up against him, telling the world that no man should decide for mankind. Also, the idea doesn’t make sense, as someone can just rebuild weapons.

So when Superman throws the weapons into space, Lex Luthor uses that to his advantage. He attached some device to a nuclear weapon to create Nuclear Man. An enemy, so strong that he can fight Superman.

Mark Pillow does an okay job in the role of Nuclear Man. Well, he isn’t using his voice thou, as Nuclear Man is voiced by Lex Luthor (Gene Hackman.) Honestly, I didn’t mind that.

Christopher Reeve makes it watchable

The movie may be bad, but it’s, as I mentioned before, very watchable. Mainly, we have to thank Christopher Reeve for it. The guy’s charisma is what pulled me through all the unbelievable crap. He’s really iconic as Clark Kent/Superman.

Reeve is a beacon for good, which we understand clearly. Even through this film.

The switching back and forth scenes in Lois’ apartment was clever. Superman and Clark Kent dating at the same time? Hilarious! Sure, that may be unbelievable, but I thought it was fun to watch.

What else is wrong with The Quest for Peace?

The latest Superman film definitely had low budget issues. Because of that, it had the worst special effects of them all. The flight sequences were laughable. The other films felt more real when he was flying.

And what the hell happened at the wall of China? He fixed the wall by putting the bricks back with his laser eyes? What? Since when can he do that?

Now, it’s okay to do some illogical stuff in superhero movies, but there are limits. For some kind of reason, people can breathe in space? Damn, that’s a bit too much.

Well, you can be mad about these mistakes, or just laugh with it.

Conclusion

Superman IV: The Quest for Peace isn’t as bad as I expected. Sure, it is truly a bad movie, but it’s watchable. And, mostly, I have to thank Christopher Reeve for that.
