Once upon a time, in the distant past, “Jackass” was the pinnacle of humor. This American company performed breakneck stunts and did not hesitate to involve innocent people. By misbehaving enormously in front of an uninformed public, rather strange scenes ensued. For example, a member of “Jackass” decided to do his business in a plumbing store in a demo toilet bowl set-up. The public – and the store owner – didn’t really like that. It did, however, make for remarkable television. The success of “Jackass” produced a slew of clones in the form of “The Dudesons” and “Dirty Sanchez. While the success of hidden camera jokes seems to be ebbing away – except for the films surrounding ‘Borat’ – suddenly there’s Netflix vehicle ‘Bad Trip’. And yes, it’s a kind of clone of ‘Jackass’ but a tad more rancid, stupid and clumsy. For form’s sake, a narrative has been created around the sketches.

Bad Trip has some line of direction when it comes to the story. The two lead actors just film some scenes without any crowd to create a storyline. However, it’s the public places that make this all so hilarious. It’s been a while since I laughed so hard. The main question you can ask yourself is: what if some scenes would happen in real life? How would that turn to be? Well, you get many confused faces.

A sulky auto mechanic (Eric André) goes on a road trip because he has fallen madly in love with a classmate from his high school, Maria Li. Although the lady in question has shown no signs of affection, the mechanic decides to enlist the help of his buddy (Lil Rel Howery). This friend, in fact, has a sister (Tiffany Haddish) with a car. Her sister is in prison and won’t mind her vehicle being borrowed uninvited, right?

The jokes are crude, boorish and stupid. Consider, among other things, a rape scene in which a gorilla attacks a car mechanic, a passage in which a hand ends up in a blender, and a jailbreak. All of these idiotic fragments take place before the eyes of an uninformed audience.
