Whether it’s Wonder Woman 1984, the Zack Snyder cut of Justice League, or the upcoming Robert Pattinson-led film The Batman, there are many reasons to be excited about the future of the DC Extended Universe.
Despite decades of movies, the “official” DCEU didn’t technically begin until 2013, with Superman Man of Steel’s reboot. However, another DC project that is in the works could return some older DC films to the DCEU. Rumors suggest that Michael Keaton, who played Batman in both 1989’s Batman and 1991’s Batman Returns, will return as the Dark Knight via a solo Flash film due out in 2022. However, I won’t include those old Batman movies in the list.
Without further due, let’s start the list!
10. Justice League (2017)
Aided by his renewed faith in humanity and inspired by the selfless Superman, Bruce Wayne (Batman) recruits his new companion Diana Prince (Wonder Woman) to face an even greater enemy. Batman and Wonder Woman quickly team up to get more recruits for this battle. But despite these heroes (Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg, and The Flash), it may already be too late to save Earth from a major attack.
At first, this wasn’t going to be in the last place. However, I recently saw the Snyder Cut, and they really butchered this movie. I’m so mad how the DCEU turns out to be because of this enormous misstep. Important stuff got left out, and I just hate it. Last place for you!
9. Suicide Squad
The secret government organization A.R.G.U.S, led by Amanda Waller, enlists the help of a fighting force consisting of a number of supercriminals. They are known as Task Force X or also the Suicide Squad. They are assigned dangerous missions in exchange for a shorter prison sentence.
It’s unfortunate how this film turned to be. This could have been an awesome flick with an assemble of super villains working together. Instead, some moments felt like repetition, the dialogue was crap, and it just felt flat. Somehow, I didn’t hate the movie, but it was far from being good.
8. Wonder Woman 1984
The 1980s. Diana, working as an anthropologist at the Smithsonian Institute in Washington D.C., tries to keep her activities as Wonder Woman as secret as possible. When businessman Maxwell Lord visits the Institute, he comes into possession of a mysterious Dreamstone with the help of a new colleague named Barbara Ann Minerva. Maxwell decides to use the Dreamstone’s special powers for his own gain, putting the entire world at risk.
The second Wonder Woman movie really did disappoint me. That’s when the first one was so good, and which made me have higher expectations. I felt like the movie didn’t know what it was supposed to be right. It is supposedly set in the ’80s, but the tone of the film is totally inconsistent. Some of the CGI is pretty bad, and the motifs are just bland.

7. Birds of Prey And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn
‘Birds of Prey’ follows Harley Quinn, who has now broken up with her partner in crime, the Joker. She tries to save the life of a young girl from the hands of a dangerous gangster. In doing so, she gets the help of some other female superheroes named Black Canary, Huntress and Renee Montoya.
I still don’t understand why they didn’t name this Harley Quinn as there are not many of Birds of Prey. Sure they’re all in it, but it’s heavily focussed on Margot Robbie. The film was okay, and I had a fun time, but it wasn’t the best movie of DCEU. Also, I want my comic book movies to be amazing and not just okay.

6. Batman v Superman Ultimate Cut
Humanity is concerned about Superman’s uncontrolled actions after a devastating action in Metropolis. This also worries the people of Gotham City. Batman comes to check on Metropolis. The two superheroes become involved in a fierce battle. Soon another day of doom is looming, caused by the villain Lex Luthor. Batman and Superman will have to put their disagreement aside to prevent another disaster.
I’m ranking this movie on his best cut, the Ultimate Cut. The theatrical release had too many plot holes for my taste. However, with the ultimate cut, the movie becomes way better. Still, I would have rather seen a Batman who doesn’t kill humans. The inclusion of Doomsday was too much for me, and I was not too fond of that part. In addition, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor is a bad choice. Besides these complaints, I still liked the movie.
5. Aquaman
‘Aquaman’ follows Arthur Curry, heir to the underwater kingdom of Atlantis. Arthur will have to step out of the shadows and prove himself a true leader as Ruler of the 7 Seas. This he must do between a surface world-destroying the sea and the tensions within his own underwater kingdom.
As a comic book reader, I could definitely tell they took a lot of inspiration from the New 52 comic book series. However, I still believe they try to do too many different stories in one film. I also thought this film was decent, while many loved it. Despite how I feel, it still deserves the number five spot on the DCEU list.
4. Shazam!
14-year-old Billy Batson feels endowed with the power of the wizard Shazam to fight against the forces of evil. With the wisdom of Solomon, the strength of Hercules, the stamina of Atlas, the power of Zeus, the courage of Achilles, and speed of Mercury, he is the holder of the power of S.H.A.Z.A.M. Shazam explores the limits of his abilities with the cheerful recklessness of a child. But he must master these powers quickly to fight the deadly forces of evil controlled by Dr. Thaddeus Sivana.
It’s the only DCEU film that actually feels like a Marvel movie. It had a lighter tone than the other ones, and it was also the perfect one for Shazam. This hero is supposed to feel light and fun, and that’s what we got. Sure, the special effects weren’t excellent, but this was a delightful film.
3. Wonder Woman
An Amazonian princess leaves her lush tropical island to live in a world with urban cityscapes of glass and steel. Trained by Amazonian warriors and equipped with exceptional gifts, she is the emissary of the gods who will grow into one of the greatest heroines ever.
Wonder Woman was indeed one of the better films of the DCEU. They understood how Diana is and why she is a true hero. The only downside of this film was the end battle. However, we also got to see the no man’s land scene, which is one of the best DCEU scenes. That one gave me chills.
2. Zack Snyder’s Justice League
Fuelled by restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his new ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to counter this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented group of heroes – Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash – it may already be too late to save the planet from an attack of catastrophic proportions.
I cannot believe how Warner Bros and Josh Whedon butchered the Justice League movie. This movie was supposed to be great and one of the best. When I was watching the Snyder Cut, I was a very happy kid. I used to watch a lot of DC animated shows like Justice League. This was a wish come true.
Movie Review – Zack Snyder’s Justice League
1. Man of Steel
Before the dying planet Krypton explodes, scientist Jor-El sends his only son, the newborn Kal-El, to planet Earth. The baby’s spaceship crashes into the pasture of Jonathan and Martha Kent. They raise Kal-El and give him a new name: Clark Kent. Clark grows up as a normal boy, but knows he is different from other children. After all, not everyone can lift a school bus. Later in life, he still struggles with his identity, though the search for his true self goes a lot easier when General Zod, a surviving general from Krypton, attacks Earth with a small army. Will Clark join his peers, or will he commit himself to his new home planet?
The first film to set off the DCEU is also my favorite one. We got some amazing scenes of Krypton and the evolution of Clark Kent to Superman. It’s about him discovering who he wants to be. In my opinion, Man of Steel is a masterpiece!
