It’s time for the best movie speeches of all time! There are lots of good speeches in movies. Some are so memorable that you can use them as a life motto.

I also have a list of all the best movie quotes of all time, but quotes are usually shorter than speeches. So this is definitely a completely different list.

There are a lot of movie speeches, but only a few stay fresh in our memories. So it’s worth not considering the time and choosing the very best of all the time.

Okay, so as always, there’ll be some personal preferences too. And this list won’t be in any order.

Gladiator – My Name is Maximus

Oh, vengeance speeches can be so powerful. Especially in Gladiator, when Russel Crowe tells who he goddamn is and what he is going to do.

My Name is Maximus! I should really rewatch this film.

Pulp Fiction – Eziekel 25:17

Who doesn’t love to see Samuel L. Jackson swear? This scene is pure gold and especially the ending of it.

And he delivers his speech so powerful and menacing. You know it’s about to go down if he’s quoting a verse of the bible.

The Great Dictator
Charlie Chaplin’s Final Speech

If I had ranked this list, The Great Dictator Speech would be number one of the best movie speeches of all time. That’s how great it is. And that by the legendary Charlie Chaplin.

What’s even more insane is that this speech still affects the society today. Yes, things have changed for the good, in my opinion, as we’re becoming more and more accepting of each other with each generation. However, we’re still seen as “disposable machines.” Like we’re just are a kind of number.

We’re not machines, we’re men!

Rocky Balboa – Motivational speech to son

Life ain’t for losers. Are you feeling down or unmotivated? Well, watch this inspirational speech from Sylvester Stallone in Rocky Balboa. It will give you the willpower to get back up and keep moving forward!

Give it your all!

Any Given Sunday – Life is a game of inches.

Some of the best movie speeches are the ones before going to a sports game. A speech about fighting for each inch you can get. Every inch matters in life, it’s about willing to fight for what you want.

And who better to deliver it than the loud-mouthed Al Pacino. This speech gives me goosebumps, and I’ve actually never seen this film. Shame on me!

Independence Day – The President’s Speech

When America gets their last speech before the final battle between them and aliens, they get the extra motivation to fight. And all that in honor of celebrating their new independence day.

Who would have known a movie would create an independence day film with aliens.

The Dark Knight – A Watchful Protector

Obviously, the speech of my favorite Batman film of all time was going to be included in this list.

This time, it’s the speech of Jim Gordon (Gary Oldman) that absolutely gave me goosebumps. Even now, I still get man-tears of awesomeness.

Dead Poets Society
Carpe Diem. Seize the Day

Robin Williams was such a presence back in the days. I’m always bummed out when I hear his name because he passed away too soon. He felt like the father figure to all the movie lovers, teaching us stuff through films. One of a kind!

And he also does it in Dead Poets Society while delivering a speech about Carpe Diem. He confronts some young guys with the harsh reality of getting older, and therefore going for what they want.

Pursuit of Happyness
Don’t let your dreams be dreams

I’ve only watched this film once, but the Pursuit of Happyness definitely left a mark. it’s even my favorite Will Smith Movie. Chris’s speech tells his son to go for whatever he wants to become without needing anyone’s approval.

I still feel like a lot of folks let their dreams be dreams because they need the approval of others. This speech convinces you to take your life in your own hands and go for it.

Hoosiers
I don’t care what the scoreboard says.

An excellent short speech before a match always boosts your motivation. Gene Hackman stands out as coach Dale. This speech is not only motivational but true in sports as in life.

It’s important to give it your all. To show them at least what you’re made off.

300 – Tonight we Dine in Hell

Short but powerful. You have to love the almighty Spartans for their bravery. They’re willing to fight till the end by looking death straight in the eye.

American Beauty – Plastic bag scene

I don’t know where to begin with this one. Everything has a story behind it if it’s a plastic bag or a human being. The bag represents trash/ objects/ humans that are tossed to the side. However, Ricky sees the beauty in it.

Mr. Smith Goes to Washington
Lost Causes

While the entire room fights against him, James Stewart is fighting back. He’s ready to give it his all, even if it means that everyone is against him. Because there needs to be someone who is willing to stand up for the “lost causes.”

Rudy – Fortune’s Truth

There ain’t no shortcuts in life. If you want something, then you have to prepare yourself for the long game. I can reflect this speech to my own blog. I’m currently still on the bench, but if I quit now, I will regret it. I believe that endurance and perseverance are essential to reaching your goals. The effort alone is enough for me. Stay true to yourself.

Armageddon – President’s Speech

Whoever wrote this speech should be working as president instead of Trump. A speech about courage and giving all we can do to save the planet.

When the earth is facing Armageddon, a crew of fourteen men is willing to do everything they can to save the world.

King Henry V
Shakespearean Speech

When the odds are against in you during the war, a motivational speech can boost your fighting spirit! And King Henry V does it with a Shakespearean speech.

It’s a beautiful use of language.

The Shawshank Redemption
Get busy living or get busy dying.

Life in prison is hard, and the will to be free can be strong. You can complain about life anytime, but don’t forget to put that aside and try to live more. Make the best out of it!

The Lord Of The Rings
Aragorn Speech

I can’t express how much I loved the third film of the Lord of the Rings Trilogy. This scene only is so golden. Aragorn, who is giving a final speech to prepare for battle.

And the music in it is so wonderful. It adds to the delivery of his speech. Definitely worth being one of the best movie speeches of all time.

Braveheart
William Wallace Freedom Speech

Not only does Braveheart has one of the best movie speeches, it’s also one of the best war movies.

They may take our lives, but they will never take our freedom! Dammit, Mel Gibson knows how to deliver. Freedom can be such a powerful motive.

Saving Private Ryan
The farther from home I feel.

War changes who you are. He had a normal life back home as an English teacher. However, hearing him talk about it makes you realize that he once was a normal man. Now, the war changed him into something else. With every kill, he drifts away from being who he was.
