One of the most memorable scenes of The Fifth Element is when the Diva Opera Singer was performing.
But who is she? Well, she actually consists of two different persons. One plays the body, and the other one is the voice.
The Opera Singer of The Fifth Element is …
On-screen, it’s the actress Maïwen Besco. She’s a French actress who also plays in other French and English movies, but they’re not that famous. I haven’t seen any other films about her. However, if you’re interested, feel free to look her up on IMDB.
The voice of the Diva Opera Singer of The Fifth Element is by Inva Mula Tchako. She’s an Albanian opera singer and the name of the aria in the movie is “Il Dolce Suono.” Maïwen Besco still does an excellent job lip-syncing because I didn’t notice any mistakes there.

Just for your information, the area is considered to be one of the hardest songs to do because of its length. It’s impossible to sing it as they had to record some notes separately because you can’t jump from a sharp note to immediately a grave one.
Luc Besson & Maïwen Besco
Most of you know that Luc Besson directed the movie. However, did you know that Director Luc Besson was married to Maïwen Besco? Okay, this is going to weird you out. They started dating when he was 31, and she was only 15 years old. Yeah, I know it’s weird. And, she even got pregnant at the age of 16.
When they were filming the Fifth Element, he broke up with her because he fell in love with Milla Jovovich. They were even married for two years. And once again, Milla was 16 years younger than him. Yeah, he sure loves his girlfriends young.

Mula was born in Tirana, which is the capital of Albania. Also, I have once been to Albania, and it’s honestly worth a visit! Now, back to her backstory. She won many competitions such as the Cantante d’Albania (1987), George Enescu Competition in Bucharest (1988), and the Butterfly Competition in Barcelone (1992).
After these competitions, Inva performed in various concerts throughout Europe. Some of them were taped for television.
Mula performed various songs like Lucia di Lammermoor, la bohème, and Manon, among others. However, she is most known for singing Il Dolce Suono as the Diva Opera Singer from The Fifth Element.
Star Wars
George Lucas took some inspiration from The Fifth Element for his prequels like the scene of the flying car.
That makes me wonder if he took some inspiration for his blue alien who resembles the Diva Plavalaguna. Can someone confirm this one and let me know in the comment section? I found sources where it states that Lucas was inspired by it, but I don’t know if they’re trustworthy.
The hair or tentacles, or whatever you want to call it, seem to be different. However, the blue coloration appears to be the same blue color.
