Young Indiana Jones
All of the Indiana Jones films have great opening scenes. It’s hard to chose which one is my favorite as they are all good. In Indiana Jones: the Last Crusade, we even get to see a young Indiana Jones (Harrison Ford) in the beginning.
Young Indiana Jones is played by River Pheonix, who does an excellent job at it. He really feels like Indiana Jones and you can definitely see how he became this awesome adventurous man. Unfortunately, River died at a young age of 23 due to multiple drugs intoxication.
One of my favorite scenes of the entire Indiana Jones franchise is when he gets his hat. That transition from young to old is golden. I rewatched that scene like a thousand times. And it still gives me goosebumps.
Sean Connery as Henry Jones
As mentioned in the plot description, Indiana Jones is looking for his disappeared father, Henry Jones.
I absolutely love the casting. First, Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones is the best choice ever. On top of that, we get Sean Connery as his father. What a great choice. I’m not going to say they look alike, but I could believe he is his father by looking at them.
He also names his son “Junior” instead of “Indiana” as we know him. And Indiana hates it, when his father calls him by that name. I thought it was hilarious, as it makes him feel younger. It’s like when I hear that name, I see him as a boy and not a man.
There are some hilarious scenes were people are saying “Dr. Jones,” where the two of them respond “yeah.”

The Last Crusade: The Holy Grail
When I was young, my favorite Indiana Jones film was the Temple of Doom. Now, after rewatching the three films after so many years, I have to give it to this one.
There is a lot of action with hand-to-hand combat, chases, and gun fights. Minor characters get killed, one gets even beheaded. And there a lot of Nazis again.
And yes, it’s the Nazies who are keeping Indy’s father captive, who he has to go save. We visit a lot of countries, from America to Venice to the Middle East. Some of the Nazis are also looking for the Holy Grail, which his father done research on for decades.
The chemistry between Sean Connery and Harrison Ford, as father and son, makes this movie a stand out from the rest of the series. The story of their father and son relationship wrapped in the search for the holy grail is what makes this spectacular Indy movie, a more meaningful adventure. It also has an important father-son message.
Director Spielberg is brilliant for using old recipes to make an adventure film: exotic scenes, the struggles between good and evil, magical objects, etc.
Conclusion
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade is one of the best Action Classic Adventure movies. It is also one of the greatest sequel of all time. The Indiana Jones films still holds up to this day.

Temple of Doom is always my favorite for sentimental reasons alone, but Crusade is really a masterpiece. The script is brilliant–apparently Tom Stoppard did uncredited rewrites all through it and it reads as such. So intelligent and witty. And the Connery-Ford chemistry is the best!
