Unexpected violence

Did I expect some violence? Yes, but this film is full of it. As a matter of fact, it was one of the most bloody animated movies I’ve ever seen in my life. My jaw dropped, and it all happens so fast. I guarantee you, if you’re a DC fan, you will be shocked.

There are many deaths in this film, and our favorite superheroes are dying one by one. And, I’m not even talking about C- or B-rank heroes. No, even some A-rank heroes get shred to pieces.

“Justice League Dark: Apokolips War” starts off with Superman, who wants to take down Darkseid. On top of that, he tells everyone not to hold back and that he won’t imprison him. No, he wants him gone for good this time. It’s like we see a bit of the Superman of the Injustice League series/games in him. Unfortunately, Darkseid heard his entire plan to take him down.

Justice League Dark - John Constantine

Justice League Dark

The film mainly follows Constantin, who was also at the battle on the planet Apocalypse. However, he fled when everything went south. Also, he’s the most crucial character of this film. Constantine is definitely my favorite hero of the Justice League Dark members. He is a great character with a stubborn persona and I love how this film makes him so valuable.

Matt Ryan as Constantine is perfect. I’m so happy for the guy because he deserves it. There was a live-action TV show with him in as Constantine, but unfortunately, it got canceled. However, the fans loved him, and he still makes some appearances in the TV show universe of Arrow, Flash, and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow. And of course, also for the animated movies.

Etrigan the Demon is another fantastic character, which I already loved from Batman: The Animated Series. In this film, he’s kind of bored because he can’t find someone who’s worthy of a challenge. His grumpy attitude is a blast, which I didn’t really expect.

Also, J.J. Abrams is going to produce a “Justice League Dark” Live-Action series. Let’s hope they will include both Constantine and Etrigan, in this new show. For the rest, I don’t mind who they’re going to pick to form the crew. But, they have to get those two in it. And who knows, it’s maybe going to be Matt Ryan again?

End of the New 52

Justice League Dark: Apokolips War is the last film in its installment of the New 52 film series. Not quiet and ending I’ve expected, but what a way to end a series.

Now, that doesn’t mean it’s the end of animated comic book movies, as they will release new ones. My guess is that they’re going to release films from the DC Rebirth series.
