Some of your favorite celebrities could surprise you as they are actors who are hard to work with.

You probably heard many stories about some celebrities being very demanding, loud, pushy, and sometimes just painful hard to manage.

Of course, everyone is different. Some are proud of this character “flaw,” while others want to work on it. Sometimes it’s a matter of perception or life backstory.

Most of the time, it bumps me out when I hear that one of my favorite actor or actress is hard to work with. Unfortunately, they can’t all be nice guys.

Actors who are hard to work with

Val Kilmer Actors who are hard to work with

Val Kilmer

The Top Gun, Batman Forever, and Tombstone star is known for being “childish and impossible”. Those were the words from Joel Schumacher, the Batman Forever director. Richard Stanley even fired him from The Island of Dr. Moreau after three days.

He was centric and rude towards his crew members. Now, he regrets these actions, which he admitted when he answered some fan’s questions on a Reddit AMA. Val Kilmer was aware of his actions. He was often unhappy, trying to make the movies better.

Teri Hatcher

Teri Hatcher is mostly known for her role in Desperate Housewives. She didn’t get along with her fellow actresses. On top of that, she was reported to be a narcissist and ambivalent towards the cast.

Some of the most straightforward scenes were hard to film because of that. The other actresses were just not comfortable being around here. At the end of the show, the cast of the show rewarded the crew with a gift. But they purposely left Teri Hatcher’s name off the thank you note.

Actors who are hard to work with Mike Myers

Mike Myers

It always surprises me when a comedic actor is hard to work with. Like, come on! He brought us “Wayne’s World” and “Austin Powers.”

He is said to be moody and a control freak. On top of that, he terrorizes his fellow cast members with his many demands. The director Wayne’s World even assigned an assistant to keep up with his demands. He wasn’t fond of him at all.

Chevy Chase

Chevy Chase always has been rude to everyone, and he won’t apologize for it.

This comedy legend was part of the original cast of Saturday Night Live but only stayed for one season. Many members of SNL didn’t get along with him. So no wonder, he was only there for a season.

I know him from Community, a show that I loved. Chevy Chase had a feud with the Community director, telling him the show wasn’t good. It led to many angry calls, and he left the show soon after.

No wonder he’s one of the actors who are hard to work with.

Actors who are hard to work with - Katherine Heigl

Katherine Heigl

The reason why Katherin Heigl is mainly challenging to work with is because of her criticism. She criticized “Knocked up” for being “sexist,” while her fellow cast members thought she liked the process and were feeling somehow betrayed.

She disrespected the writers of Grey’s Anatomy by declining the Emmy’s. The show’s writing wasn’t good enough for her to be considered for the Emmy’s. That’s offensive toward the people you work with.

Bruce Willis

In “Cop Out,” the director of the film, Kevin Smith, said that he was “Soul-crushing.” A real nightmare to work with. When he was done filming, he thanked everyone except Bruce Willis, who he called to be a “f**king dick.”

He’s also terrible at interviews. Sometimes you can feel that he just loses interest, and it’s rude toward the interviewer.

Sylver Stallone even tweeted “GREEDY AND LAZY …… A SURE FORMULA FOR CAREER FAILURE.” That was a reference to Bruce Willis. He demanded a pay raise of 1 million dollars a day despite being a minor supporting player. Stallone, obviously, refused that insane offer.

Nowadays, it’s hard for Bruce Willis to find a director and cast who wants to work with him. He can be a pain in the ass, but I still love to see him act. Can you please stop being one of those actors who are hard to work with?

Actors who are hard to work with Christian Bale

Christian Bale

Christian Bale is one of the most devoted actors, but he can be so invested that he loses himself in the role. These can be scary from time to time. There was one meltdown while filming Terminator Salvation that went viral. Expect a lot of F-bombs. That was due to a director of photography for walking through when he was filming an important scene.

He can be an angry person sometimes who takes things too seriously. Furthermore, he’s fascinated by the violence of the real-world, as he sees it as part of making the world work.

Onset, he distances himself from others to stay in character. Which I can respect to some degree.

I still love the guy, especially as Batman.

Russel Crowe

Nicole LaPorte wrote a book that revealed Russel Crowe’s most difficult traits. She claims that he even called Branko Lustig, a producer at 3 a.m. and calling him a “motherf***er.” Russel thought that his assistants were low-balled, so he took his liberty to insult the producer. Lustig feared Russel Crowe so much that he wanted out, afraid for his life. Maybe there was a bit too much of a gladiator in him?

Russel Crowe has been accused of having an angry temper, and as someone who can be confrontational. Although he denies it.

There was even a feud between him and George Clooney. Crowe called him a sell-out for doing a lot of TV commercials. It eventual blew over.

Jennifer Aniston

Well, she maybe won’t shout or insult people, but Jennifer Aniston is another Diva. She’s a class of her own. Jennifer eats her meals separately from the crew and cast. Furthermore, she keeps her trailer miles away from the set to be separated from the rest.

Aside from that, she’s also another demanding person.

Thomas Gibson

On Criminal Minds, an incident had happened. Thomas Gibson, who played special agent Hobbs, had some creative differences with the show’s writers.

Thomas exploded in anger during an arguement and kicked a writer in the leg. That resulted in him being fired from the show after eleven seasons.

Actors who are hard to work with - Edward Norton

Edward Norton

Edward Norton is one of the most popular infamous actors for being hard to work with. And what a shame, because I love to see the guy on screen. Norton’s problem is that he’s a control freak who wants to have control over the story of the film.

In American History X, he wasn’t pleased with how the director cut the movie and left some scenes out. So he demanded to have more control over it and added some scenes back. That resulted in the move being longer, and it was his version that got released in the theaters. Well, I can’t complain about the movie, as it’s one of his best films. I do understand that this can be frustrating for the crew, as he forces his version upon them.

He even wrote parts of the script for The Incredible Hulk, although he didn’t get any credits for it. That bothered the film director and Marvel Studios. And as we know, he wasn’t back for Avengers. However, he did want to be part of it. Marvel said that they couldn’t work with someone who isn’t a team-player. Well, they didn’t word it like that, but that’s what they meant. However, some claim it to be a financial decision of Marvel. I believe it to be a mixture of both.

He’s a tough guy to work with. However, I have to admit that I believe he has excellent visions of how a movie can become better. And they probably will be, but it’s just not his job.

Actors who are hard to work with - Steven Seagal

Steven Seagal

Steven Seagal is legendarily known for his martial arts throughout the 1990s. He trained actors like Sean Connery. Did you know Steven even broke Sean Connery’s wrist once? Later on, he became a movie star himself.

There were many rumors and stories about Seagal harassing and physically abusing other cast and crew members. One story was about Seagal throwing someone to a wall because he laughed at something he said. So tip for you: don’t joke when Steven Seagal is around.

He also lost fans, because it’s believed he is a compulsive liar. He said to give training to the C.I.A., while his wife said that wasn’t true. It’s like he creates his own backstory as he wishes. That makes it hard to believe him.

Actors who are hard to work with - Gwyneth Paltrow

Gwyneth Paltrow

It appears that Gwyneth Paltrow is known to be full of herself. She uses ridiculous statements like stating she had a butt of a 22-year old stripper with a straight face.

Like me, many know her from Marvel for playing Pepper Pots, where she is very likable. Unfortunately, according to a lot of folks, she’s not an enjoyable person to be with.

As you can already guess, she’s a diva with a demanding personality. For instance, she has an assistant to dry the showers when she goes to a gym. Why? Because she doesn’t want to touch used water from someone else.

Jennifer Lopez

You probably guessed it when you read her name. And yes, she’s a diva. Well, she’s more of a singer than an actress as I don’t like her acting. Although she made enough movies to make it to the list of actors who are hard to work with.

You don’t want to be an assistant of Jennifer Lopez, as you have to be ready to fulfill all of her demands. While that’s not the main problem, it’s that she will probably treat you like you’re trash.

It’s like JLO feels superior to the rest. A real shame.

Actors who are hard to work with - Shia LeBeouf

Shia LeBeouf

JUST DO IT!

Shia LeBeouf is pretty famous for playing in the first three Transformers films. He also played in Disturbia, Even Stevens, Fury, and Indiana Jones: Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

He’s also known for being a challenge on set. Mainly because of his strange method approach, which made it difficult to work with him. He claims that there isn’t anything learn in school that he can learn on set. While he’s being honest, he loses credibility of knowing what he actually does.

Furthermore, there are even stories of him fighting his fellow co-stars on set, like Tom Hardy. Not to mention his public feud with Alec Baldwin was loud and embarrassing.

I know he’s if one of the actors who is hard to work with, but I can’t help it to admit that I kind of like the guy. I feel like he’s a bit lost and is still searching for his true self.

Actors who are hard to work with - William Shatner

William Shatner

The original James T.Kirk. from the well know Star Trek Series. He didn’t only play in Star Trek, but also in some other variety of films.

William Shatner loved to be the center attention. As a matter of fact, he was a jealous person, especially from his co-star Leonard Nimoy, who played Spock. Namely, because many loved the Vulcan character Spock, which overshadowed Kirk. William even stole lines from others.

Another of his co-star Takei gave him an invitation to his wedding. William Shatner told him that he “lost his invitations in the mail.” In some video’s he even claims he doesn’t know the guy. Like what? He’s on the same set as you most of the time.

Dustin Hoffman

In 1967, Dustin Hofman got his first break-out role with “The Graduate,” which he got nominated for. He turned down some roles because he didn’t want to get his fame out of hand. In the following years, we saw him in classics like Midnight Cowboy, Kramer vs. Kramer, Tootsie, and the list go on.

Dustin Hoffman is a perfectionist. Due to that, he is known to be one of the actors who is hard to work with. He insists on redoing takes until it’s perfect. It’s his dedication that had a negative impact on his co-stars.

In Kramer vs. Kramer, Hoffman slapped Streep in a scene. Well, there is the freedom to act in a scene, but this was overstepping, according to Streep. That was her first scene in her first movie, and he just slapped him.

On top of that, he got allegations of sexual misconduct. Even Streep accussed him of grabbing her breast, which he, later on, apologized for. In mater of fact, more women filed complaints about Hoffman’s behavior.

Marlon Brando

You know that one student or employee who does whatever he wants. Not listening to anyone at all. Well, that was Marlon Brando.

He was notorious for ignoring directions while acting. Moreover, he didn’t even mesmerize his lines. Instead, he improvised and wrote cue cards or even wear an earpiece.

However, he is known as one of the greatest actors alive.

Actors who are hard to work with - Sharon Stone

Sharon Stone

Sharon Stone played in films like Total Recall, Basic Instinct, and Casino. She has a reputation for being extremely demanding. Oh boy, another diva on the list. Furthermore, Basic Instinct 2 almost didn’t happen because she spent months debating with the producers about the sexual content.

On the set of A Golden Boy, she repeatedly left to go on a shopping spree. To top it off, she was paying with the production card.

The craziest part is when she shot herself in the foot when she was arguing with her co-star William Baldwin in Silver. Stone even bit William’s tongue during a love scene. It was so hard that he was unable to speak for a week. That’s pretty much physical assault if you ask me.

Now, studio’s think twice before hiring her. She also played in The Disaster Artist.

Actors who are hard to work with - Charlie Sheen

Charlie Sheen

I think this one is no surprise to anyone, as he’s notoriously famous for being known as one of the actors who is hard to work with. Charlie Sheen is the son of Martin Sheen and started off in the 1980s. He’s most known for being the funny man on the CBS tv show, Two-and-a-Half-Men.

Sheen is also known for being wild, using drugs, and going to a lot of parties. He was married to Denise Richard, but that didn’t last long. Even in Two-and-a-Half-Men, they had to let him go because he was unpredictable.

In general, he’s a bizarre person who says odd things from time to time. For instance, he succeeds in destroying relationships with people who were close to him. If he didn’t have to be the center of attention of all times, “Two and a Half Men” might have kept him.

Another example is that Sheen claimed to be underpaid for the tv-show, while he was the highest-paid actor on television. Therefore he demanded to increase his salary by 50%.

There is this one interview where he’s so full of himself. It’s actually kind of hilarious, but you can definitely see he’s delusional about it. Click here if you haven’t seen it yet.

Lindsay Lohan

In the early 1990s, Lindsay Lohan was a young star with hit films such as Freaky Friday and Mean Girls. She had a promising future, but that didn’t happen.

She started to get into trouble with the law. Furthermore, she was unprofessional during some projects. Many people consider her to be a self-professed egotist.

Another fun trivia to know is that she wants an Oscar, but on the other hand, she still wants to have a life. Obviously, you can have both, but the way she put it, it’s like she wants people to hand an Oscar over to her. Just because, you know, she wants it.

Also, some executives insist on special clauses in her contract so they sure she will show up. Like you know, that just means she’s hard to work with.

Conclusion

Well, I hope you enjoyed my article about “Actors who are hard to work with.” Do take into consideration that this took a lot of research and is based on many people’s stories. Some of them may be untrue, although most of them are high-likely true.
