It’s all about adventure in Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981)

I remember watching this film as a kid and being thrilled by the adventure of it. Raiders of the Lost Ark will entertain you from beginning to end. It has everything: fun, excitement, action, love, danger, …

Even after almost forty years, this film still holds up. As a kid, I wanted to become an archeologist thanks to movies like Indiana Jones, the Mummy, and even Jurassic Park. They sure made look this profession very interesting. But yeah, in the end, I did not become one.

I’m also a dance teacher, and I used this movie as an inspiration to make a choreography on. I used my favorite scene where Indiana Jones is fighting bandits/ swordsmen in the market with his wits and fists, and where he has to face a dark-robed swordman. While the swordsman does some neat tricks with his sword, Indy just looks his opponent up and down and casually shoots him down.

Harrison Ford, the only Indiana Jones

I don’t think I will ever be able to see anyone else in the role of Indian Jones. Yes, I will always keep an open mind and give everyone a shot. But, Harrison Ford will forever be the real Indiana Jones. He made this character so likable that you just admire him decades later.

He really feels like someone dynamic, strong, adventurous, and is set on his own goals. This is what I really like the most about him. He has goals and dreams and is ready to do everything to pursue it. I think that having those dreams makes a character exciting because they have something to live for.

And what an iconic score, it’s so memorable and so enjoyable. The theme song shouts everything Indian Jones is. Adventure!

Egypt

The majority of this film takes place in Egypt, where the Nazis are also present. Although, in reality, they were never in Egypt.

The setting suits the Indiana Jones vibe as does the scenes in the beginning of the film. One of my other favorite scenes was the truck chase in the desert. Those were super fun and exciting, and you don’t want to mess with Indiana Jones. He has no beef killing people, which makes him dangerous.

There are even more other incredible set pieces in this film.

Conclusion

“Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981)” is a perfect package of countless action, humor, thrilling sequences, and unforgettable scenes.
