Movie Plot – “Spider-man Far from Home” is the first movie after “The Avengers – Endgame.” Five years have passed since Thanos wiped half of the entire population of existence. That also had a significant effect on this movie. Some of the students are five years older, and some are still the same age as five years ago.

Director: Jon Watts
Writers: Chris McKenna, Erik Sommers
Cast: Tom Holland, Samuel L. Jackson, Jake Gyllenhaal, Zendaya

Tony Stark legacy

At the beginning of the movie, Peter Parker is still dealing with the loss of his mentor, “Tony Stark,” aka Iron Man. And a lot of folks expect him to fill in his shoes. That is all overwhelming for such a young boy. And Peter has to deal with these issues while he is still trying to be an average teenager. Combining both his superhero life and his daily life is complicated.

I admire that the moviemakers touch many different aspects: Grieve, action, humor, and a good sense of story. Peter Parker feels like the spiderman of the comics. He is also still learning how to control his powers. I love it that they call his spider-sense “spider tinkling.” There is one scene in this movie with his new ability, and it kicked ass!

Spider-man is INDEED far from home

Spiderman isn’t in New York this time. Instead, he’s in Europe, which is far from home.

That was a good call from Marvel. Well, maybe I’m a bit buyest because I live in Europe myself so I’ve been to some places where they filmed the movie. And, they visit multiple countries, which is awesome. My favorite one, was when he arrived in the Netherlands in some unknown village. That was just incredibly funny.

Jake Gyllenhaal as Mysterio

This Mysterio is different than the one of the comics. But their approach worked for me. The use of their visuals was insane and complex. Some of them could give an opponent a serious headache.

I was surprised when they cast Jake Gyllenhaal as Mysterio. I did not see him in that role, but he delivered. Well, I should not have been surprised by this because he is a fine actor.

Spider-man Far From Home - MJ

The new Romance

MJ is the new love interest of Peter Parker. We have all known MJ from the Sam Raimy trilogy. Compared to the previous one, this is instead a “cold” hearted girl. That does not mean she is cruel, but rather that she gives cold remarques to people. I appreciate the different approach, but it also ruins their romance. Because of that, I can’t feel the connection between the two. The Amazing Spiderman 2 with Andrew Garfield was maybe a flop, but I loved the romance in it. His relationship with Gwen Stacy was something that worked well. I hope this romance will get better with the 3rd movie.
